The Ballad - Silk Scarf is inspired by a design motif found in Iznik, Kutahia and Damascus tiles. The earliest ceramic works of the Iznik tradition were by Armenian artisans (15th -17th century). The Iznik ceramics started as blue designs painted on a white ground under the transparent glaze and later enriched with more colors.
After the Iznik decline, from the 17th to 19th centuries, Kutahia became the center of the Armenian ceramics, but was moved to Jersulem because of the Armenian Genocide. The Iznik and Kutahia ceramics were the pinnacle of the Armenian and Ottoman ceramics.
These tiles can be seen on the walls of major architectural structures from the 15th to 19th centuries. Iznik and Kutahia vessels, plateware and other objects are part of museum and private collections around the world.https://www.facebook.com/westerndiocese/videos/482199620319398/
